Sutter County John Doe (Feather River)

"The Sutter County Sheriff's Department is seeking the public's help in identifying a body recovered from the Feather River on Saturday.

The body was discovered by a boater around 4:30 p.m., directly below the Tenth Street Bridge, and was originally identified as female.

Undersheriff Jeff Pierce said Wednesday the body is actually that of a man who was dressed in clothing associated with a female.

An autopsy was performed Tuesday, but investigators were unable to get fingerprints, Pierce said. The man's cause of death is pending toxicology results, and there is no evidence of foul play. The man was 5-foot-6 and weighed around 125 pounds. He had dark hair – black or brown – and multiple tattoos.

Anyone who may have information on the identification of this man is encouraged to call the sheriff's office at 822-7307 or online: https://tinyurl.com/y9u76obw. "

Originally John Doe was thought to be female because he was wearing women's underwear and the positioning of his genitalia was deceiving. He appeared female at first glance, this is why he was originally reported as such.

Officers have been to all of the local tattoo shops in Marysville and Yuba City. They've come up empty handed.

According to the Sheriff's Dept, the body could have come downriver from as far away as Oroville.

Detectives are asking people to share these photos and information, so the man's family and friends can be notified.
