The Mysterious Death of Jamie Payne
Family is still seeking answers in the mysterious death of Jamie Payne.
Jamie was found July 23rd 2016 in a pile of logs, near "the jungle" in the river bottoms.
His badly decomposed body was found at the water's edge of Jack Slough.
2 years family and friends have waited for answers into what happened to him. While Yuba County Sheriffs Department did not treat this investigation as a homicide, his family and friends suspect that foul play occured.
"It's not being investigated as a homicide," Carbah said. "There wasn't anything to determine there was anything suspicious about his death. It's an assumed drowning."
Rumors circulated that Jamie was homeless, but friends have confirmed this is not true. He had a home on Kenny Drive in Yuba City.
Payne, 41, was reported missing to the Sutter County Sheriff's Department the evening of June 29, according to Lt. Dan Buttler.
According to the Appeal Democrat, Jamie's mother told deputies he could not be found at his apartment. Deputies contacted neighbors, who described Payne as "reclusive,". What little information they had was entered into a missing persons database by the Sheriff's Department.
On the afternoon of July 23, the Yuba County Sheriff's Department received a call from a transient man who said he discovered a body in the area previously mentioned.
Family is seeking answers to Jamie's whereabouts or who he may have been seen with, the days before he was found in Jack's Slough. They are asking that anyone with any information to please come forward. You can stay anonymous, they just want to know how Jamie ended up there. No detail can be too small, it maybe unknowingly significant.
Please call 530-434- 2815 with information.
